PSMRE is a non-profit club whose charter is to build, maintain and operate a world-class HO (1:87) model, featuring highlights of the Tacoma area during the 1950's. This is a 1700 sq. ft. model railroad exhibit and club layout, and mainline construction is complete.

We have some funding from the State of Washington and space in the Washington State History Museum, but our membership provides the skill and effort to maintain and operate the layout. Some members have extensive experience, others are rather new. This means there are opportunities to contribute your existing skills, and build new ones. We need people skilled in rolling stock and locomotive maintenance, as well as a knowledge of track, scenery, electronics and software for general maintenance of the layout. We also need both novice and experienced people for operatons. One of the most rewarding experiences is to act as docent (or tour guide if you will) and answer questions from the public. The exhibit is a highlight for museum visitors, who really enjoy viewing and interacting with the model.
