North Conway Model Railroad Club

Located in North Conway, New Hampshire, USA

The North Conway Model Railroad Club was formed in 1975 following the creation of the Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway. The North Conway and Crawford Notch Railroad, occupies a portion of the former Boston and Maine freight house on the Conway Scenic Railroad's property. The North Conway and Crawford Notch Railroad, part of the Maine Central set in the late 1940 to early 1950, is a 500 sq. ft. operating HO layout. It features replicas of the North Conway Station and train yard, Crawford Notch area with large mountains and a large seaport, running steam and diesel locomotives. The railroad services the typical New England industries, paper and wood products, granite quarry, textile and shoe industries and the factories of northern New England, plus passenger service.

The Club's purpose is to promote the hobby of Model Railroading. We do this by having our layout open for the public viewing three day a week during the busy summer and fall seasons. There is no admission fee. Our visitors' sign-in book indicates that our guests number in the thousands and come from all over the world. Our volunteer hosts enjoy talking and promoting the hobby to our guests. The club is a nonprofit organization with over 100 dues paying men and women. Our dues are a modest $15.00 per year, which includes our monthly newsletter the "Notch Eight". The club run trips and work sessions and ask its members if they have the time to host in the layout room in the months of June, July, August, September And October.

The Notch 8 is the club's newsletter put out once a month. With the Wheel Report from Conway Scenic Railroad, President's Report, Coming Events, Club News and Events, Up date on the club layout and articles and pictures from the members of the club. Most of our members receive the newsletter by e-mail but we still send some out by snail mail when needed.
